In the sultry haze of July 1957 Havana, Cuba, Women in Peril 1: Captured Revolutionary unfolds against the backdrop of Batista’s brutal regime during the Cuban Revolution. The story follows three bold female revolutionaries: the Hooker, a seductive and cunning operative; the Assassin, a sharp-witted strategist with a cigarette always in hand; and the Waitress, a keen observer posing as a barmaid.

The comic opens in a gritty street-side bar, buzzing with danger and deception. The Hooker sits at the bar, charming a drunken Batista officer who’s downed too many whiskeys. He brags about capturing ten revolutionaries, now held at the Cienfuegos military base, awaiting execution on Batista’s orders. Behind them, at a table shrouded in shadows, the Assassin sits, smoking and listening intently, her eyes missing nothing.

At the bar entrance, the Waitress stands, seemingly idle, but secretly jotting down every word in a small notebook, her role as the group’s intelligence gatherer clear. When the officer grows too bold, the Hooker gives a subtle nod. The Assassin exhales a plume of smoke, signaling the Waitress, who swiftly draws a concealed pistol and shoots the officer in the back of the head. His body collapses, and the three women slip into the night, aiming to use the intel to save their captured comrades.

Two days later, their luck runs dry. Batista’s ruthless military police, known for their savage treatment of dissidents—especially women—track down the trio. The Hooker, the Assassin, and the Waitress are seized and taken to Cienfuegos. In a chilling scene, the women are shown in an interrogation chamber, suspended by straps around their ankles like slabs of meat, their defiance battered but not broken. The military police, reveling in cruelty, begin a special interrogation session to crush their spirits.
