Meanwhile, Tessa, a crippled peasant girl, suffers further abuse and is nearly abandoned as "dead weight." 

Amidst the chaos, a mercenary and others plan to flee with the Contessa, valuing her for her aristocratic status and potential value to slavers. Betrayals unfold, including a shocking revelation that a maid, under the Contessa’s orders, deflowered her to deceive the Prince. The castle falls to the Turks, with Greek fire and collapsing defenses sealing its fate. The Prince, wounded but defiant, meets his end, while the Contessa and surviving women face a grim future in captivity. 

The story concludes with the Contessa, still defiant, confronting the mercenary who captures her. Two other women, leveraging their cunning, negotiate their survival, revealing their resilience. The comic ends with the group heading toward a military town, where the Contessa’s fate as a commodity in a war-torn world is sealed, her value tied to her ability to endure and adapt.
