Herr Gonos hat ein geheimes Geschäft, wo er Leuten Geld leiht, die echt verzweifelt sind. Er ist bekannt dafür, dass er kein Mitleid hat, wenn jemand nicht zahlt. Dann schickt er Peter und Steve los, seine zwei starken Typen, die das Geld zurückholen sollen. Die Geschichte fängt an, als sie zu Kelly Stines gehen. Kelly hat sich Geld geliehen, aber niemand soll wissen, wofür. Sie hat schon lange nicht gezahlt, und Gonos will sein Geld zurück – ohne Ausreden. Peter und Steve finden sie und sind bereit, alles zu tun, damit sie zahlt.
Bei Kelly wird es schnell schlimm. Sie treffen sie auf einem Parkplatz, und sie jammert über ihre Probleme – vielleicht ihr Auto oder ein Freund –, aber das interessiert die zwei nicht. Sie werden grob, fordern das ganze Geld plus Zinsen, und als sie nichts hat, wird es heftiger. Kelly verspricht panisch, morgen etwas zu verkaufen – ihr Auto oder Schmuck –, um die Schulden zu bezahlen. Peter und Steve lassen sie zurück. Sie warnen sie: „Zahl, oder es wird schlimmer!“

Am nächsten Morgen gehen Peter und Steve zu Frau Flexon, einer schlauen Anwältin, die auch bei Gonos Schulden hat. Sie schuldet viel Geld, weil sie Zinsen nicht gezahlt hat – manche sagen, sie dealt mit Drogen, um nebenbei Kohle zu machen. Anders als Kelly tut sie erst mal cool, als die zwei in ihr Büro kommen, und sagt, sie hätte alles schon bezahlt. Aber Peter und Steve glauben ihr nicht, sie haben Beweise, dass sie noch tief drinsteckt. Es wird spannend, denn sie drohen, ihre Geheimnisse zu verraten – ihr Mann darf nichts davon wissen.

Frau Flexon wehrt sich und sagt, sie ruft die Polizei, aber Peter und Steve haben die Oberhand mit ihren Beweisen und Gonos’ Unterstützung. Sie stellen sie vor die Wahl: „Überweis das Geld jetzt, oder du wirst es bereuen – mit Schmerzen und Ärger!“ Die Geschichte zeigt, wie hart Schulden sein können, denn Gonos’ Leute bestrafen, damit das Geld kommt. Am Ende kämpfen Kelly und Frau Flexon, um aus Gonos’ Fängen zu kommen. Beide stehen vor einem großen Problem. Werden sie das Geld finden, oder kommen Peter und Steve mit noch härteren Strafen zurück?
